Denali Park Hotel is located in the small town of Healy, Alaska, just 10 miles north of the park entrance. The hotel is in close proximity to four restaurants, gas stations and a Three Bears grocery store. Flightseeing, golfing, hiking, rafting, ATV rides and horse-drawn covered wagon tours are all activities that are based out of Healy.
There are plenty of adventures to experience near the hotel. We strongly suggest you rent a vehicle. We do not offer shuttle service and there is no public transportation in the area. Some of our guests rent a car in Anchorage or Fairbanks. Other guests, who ride the Alaska Railroad to Denali National Park, can rent a car from “Keys to Denali”. Contact them directly at 907-683-5397 for details and cost.
Alaska doesn’t have many main roads so getting to our hotel is easy by car and the roads are well maintained. A mile north of the park entrance is the Denali Canyon area, a small town filled with gift shops, restaurants, and large hotels. One of the advantages of staying at Denali Park Hotel is that you are just a 10-15 minute drive from the “canyon area”, where you can shop and then come back to your room and relax where it is quiet and enjoy the “Real” Alaska. Another advantage is the savings: on average you will save 50% a night on lodging costs by staying with us.
The biggest advantage of staying at Denali Park Hotel is the wildlife. Getting away from the congested commercial area increases your chances of seeing animals. Our grounds are quiet and peaceful and it is common to see moose strolling through the hotel area and grazing in our meadow. Most years a cow moose and her new baby can be seen, some years she has twins! Also be on the lookout for red fox.
Denali Park Hotel has four single-level buildings each with 12 rooms and parking right outside your door. The rooms are clean, comfortable and include the following:
Denali Park Hotel also has three railroad cars on its premises. One of these 1943 historic World War II troop-carrying cars serves as our lobby and is a great photo opportunity!
Denali Park Hotel originally was owned by the National Park Service and at that time had some second story rooms. Thus, the property was called a hotel. In 2001 when we purchased the hotel we acquired the name of the landmark, as well as the structure itself. So, though today our rooms are single-level, motel-style, with parking right outside your door, we still use the Denali Park Hotel name in honor of its original landmark.
